Nike’s releasing new Dunks inspired by Dutch artist Piet Mondrian, contributor to the De Stilj movement who is best known for his non-representational grid paintings, and the father (along with the Pollock) of the “my _ year old could do that” school of thought. No sir, he or she could not.

“Composition with Red, Blue, Black, Yellow, and Gray”, (1921)

Image pulled from Sneaker Files:

From the looks of it, the sneakers appear to be made of canvas and nubuck. I somehow don’t see these being able to stand up under the everyday battering and weathering that a typical pair of sneakers go thru. Especially considering that Mondrian’s grid paintings are quite meticulously planned.

They are “on trend” for the warmer months however, and would make a perfectly apropos summer shoe though.
