Austrian-born artist Mercedes Helnwein is no stranger to the art world, as she’s the daughter of Gottfriend Helnwein (painter, photographer, performance artist, and jack of all trades). And it appears that the apple does not fall far from the tree, Helnwein produces sketches that reference a motley of inspirations: comic books, motel culture, turn of the century Russian literature and Delta blues. Enjoy:

“Trouble in Mind”, (2006),
Black pencil on paper, 11.5 x 8.5 inches.

“Some Kind of Accident”, (2005)

“The Book of Disquiet – A Story of the Seven Deadly Sins: Frannie (Gluttony)”, (2005).
