JP, That quote seems so depressing because it seems so true on the outset, but after a little thought, i don’t know how ‘true’ it really is. I don’t think there’s such thing as ‘pure’ art anymore (or at least how we’ve recognized art in the past), and that’s hard to handle when we love labeling things so much. I don’t know, there could obviously be a long discussion just about ‘modern art’ in our world today, but i don’t think it’s as hopeless as Banksy suggests. There are some pretty bright artists out there doing wicked cool things that aren’t advertising and design.
(in any case it makes me sad about how slow and self-obsessed i really am, how little i have to say and how much i don’t want to go into adverts.)
and about tumblr, I think you would love it. it’s basically a web bookmarking site set up for exactly what you do on this blog. it’s a place to easily put up all the shit you find on the internet, and i know you find a lot of shit. (but i love it)
: )
